The MC6500 provides professional quality speed, control and flexibility in a home-based sewing machine. Unlike standard machines, it is specifically designed to deliver expert results accurately and quickly. In fact, this model is the fastest home machine offered by Janome. It delivers a sewing speed of 1,000 stitches per minute. Quilters, especially, will find this capability extremely beneficial. The expert quality features designed into the machine are ideal for prolific quilters. At 9" x 5", the MC6500 boasts the largest arm and bed space of any home-based machine. Any one who has ever worked with yards and yards of fabric at a time will appreciate the value of this design. Some features, such as the programmable automatic thread cut, knee life and independent bobbin winding, provide quilters with hands-free convenience. The bright LCD display is a particularly notable feature. It provides a wealth of helpful information, including sewing foot suggestions, among others. The MC6500's stitching capabilities are very impressive. The machine is equipped with a wide range of utility, decorative and alphabet stitches. Stitches are even customizable. Individual and combination stitch editing is possible, as are elongation and mirror stitching. This model is equipped with a laundry list of standard accessories to meet even the most demanding of sewer's needs. The MC6500 includes a foot control and knee lifter, so quilters have a choice of working from a seated or standing position. This option is appealing for those who machine piece and quilt. A spectrum of handy add-ons are also standard equipment, including a quilting bar and cloth guide with screw. In addition, virtually any sewing foot needed is included with the MC6500 :
If the standard equipment does not meet all your sewing needs, additional sewing feet, needles, a miraclestitcher kit for free motion embroidery and circular sewing attachment for decorative stitching are all sold separately. Features
- 1000 stitches per minute sewing speed Pros : The MC6500 includes many features quilters will find extremely useful. The generously sized extension table, for one, is extremely beneficial. When dealing with multiple yards of fabric, having this additional support provides more control over one's sewing. The knee-lift is another very convenient feature, especially for machine quilters. This feature frees the hands to focus on controlling the fabric and stitching. The MC6500 provides a great deal of sewing versatility as a result of its programmability and memory. This feature comes in handy when working long seams. Cons : There are a few minor inconveniences to the MC6500's design which quilters should consider. The thread cutter, for example, is located on the machine head. Although this does not create a major obstacle, it does mean your hands will occasionally be occupied with the machine, rather than working your project. Placing the cutter on the foot pedal instead would have helped to maintain a hands-free environment. At 38 pounds, this model is too heavy for convenient transport. Quilters needing portability may prefer a lighter model. Despite the wealth of information provided by the machine's LCD panel, some basic information is missing. There is no low bobbin indicator built in to the machine. Again, this is a matter of inconvenience over function impairment. Finally, the machine's lighting quality leaves a great deal to be desired. Quilters with vision issues will need a supplemental light source when working with the MC6500. Related : More Sewing Machine Reviews
